Our Story
From beginnings in BAE Systems’ Cyber Security Unit, we now deliver advanced cyber security services for a range of clients across the commercial sector.
In 2012, the UK Government asked BAE Systems to protect a major sporting event from a potential cyber attack. This contract resulted in the creation of our Leeds-based Security Operations Centre, which remains the heart of our operation today.
Following its inception in 2012, BAE Systems expanded the Security Operations Centre to cater to other Government and commercial clients. They attracted some of the world’s largest organisations with critical information and assets to protect.
We were born out of BAE Systems so our solution is engineered to exacting standards but the really exciting thing is we are now able to react to our client’s requests in a much faster and agile way.
In 2017, We introduced Security Orchestration, Automation & Response technology, allowing us to improve the effectiveness of our security operation and optimise outcomes for our clients. We have been honing our skills in orchestration and automation for the past 4 years and are now considered one of the most advanced SOAR technology users in the industry.
BAE Systems invested heavily in cyber, as it was seen as the fourth domain after land, sea and air, and a core defence capability of the future. This saw a significant boost to our threat intelligence, incident response and forensic analysis capabilities.
In April 2020, BAE Systems sold their commercial cyber security arm to Keven Knight and Mike Brown, who form SY4 Security Ltd. During the pandemic, they transition the BAE Systems operation, customers & staff to SY4 Security, while maintaining the highest level of service.
February 2021: Talion is launched. Now with a single focus on protecting commercial clients, and with a lower cost base, we’re running a faster, more agile operation – an approach that’s changing the way businesses engage with their Managed Security Services Provider.
