Talion is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all its business activities and supply chains. This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps we take to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our organisation or those of our suppliers.
Our Business
Talion operates as a professional services organisation based in the United Kingdom. Our success depends on the contribution of our people, and we recognise that fair, ethical and lawful employment practices are fundamental to protecting individuals and maintaining our reputation as a responsible business.
We are committed to acting with integrity and transparency in all our business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to prevent modern slavery.
Our Commitment
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to ensuring that there is no slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, or human trafficking within our organisation or our supply chains. We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, contractors and business partners.
Policies and Governance
Talion has a dedicated Modern Slavery Policy which applies to all employees, contractors and relevant third parties. This policy:
- Defines modern slavery and human trafficking
- Sets out roles and responsibilities across the business
- Establishes expectations for ethical behaviour
- Provides guidance on identifying and reporting concerns
Our policies are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain effective and aligned with legislative requirements.
Risk Assessment and Supply Chains
We recognise that modern slavery risks can arise in certain areas of business activity, particularly within supply chains. The areas identified as higher risk include:
- Outsourced services such as cleaning and facilities management
- Use of temporary or agency labour
- Procurement of goods or services from regions with known labour risks
We manage these risks through proportionate due diligence, including:
- Supplier mapping based on spend and industry sector
- Risk-based assessments of suppliers and services
- Requiring high-risk suppliers to demonstrate compliance with the Modern Slavery Act
- Including anti-slavery clauses in relevant supplier contracts
- Escalating and addressing any identified concerns, up to and including termination of supplier relationships
Recruitment and Employment Practices
Talion is committed to responsible recruitment practices. We ensure that:
- All employees have written contracts of employment
- All workers have the legal right to work in the UK
- Recruitment agencies used by Talion are reputable, transparent and compliant with the Modern Slavery Act
- Employees are informed of their statutory rights, including pay, holiday and other benefits
We do not tolerate any form of exploitation and take immediate action if concerns arise during recruitment or employment.
Training and Awareness
All employees are made aware of our Modern Slavery Policy and their responsibilities under it. Training and awareness form part of our mandatory learning programme and are refreshed annually to ensure colleagues can identify the indicators of modern slavery and understand how to report concerns.
Reporting and Whistleblowing
Talion encourages all employees and stakeholders to raise concerns related to modern slavery. Reports can be made to the Human Resources function and will be handled sensitively and confidentially. Where appropriate, matters may be escalated to the relevant authorities.
We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to continually improving our practices to combat modern slavery and human trafficking. We review this statement and our related policies annually and take steps to strengthen our controls as necessary.
Approval
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Talion and will be reviewed and updated annually.
