UK media organisation with a history of making challenging and thought-provoking documentaries came under threat of attack from North Korean activists
A major UK media organisation produced a controversial documentary on North Korea and had plans to air it in the coming weeks.
Talion’s Threat Intelligence identified a threat actor in North Korea that were planning an attack on the media organisation if they aired the documentary. Our analysts, through our monitoring service, were able to see activity at the perimeter of the organisation that showed signs of reconnaissance from this known threat actor. Talion were able to provide detailed analysis from both our Threat Intelligence team and the Security Incidents from our monitoring service, to show a pattern that supported the fears of an imminent attack.
“Talion’s reporting provided the required information to make decisions on the documentary airing, versus the security of the business against a cyber attack. Senior Management were able to assess the risks involved and make decisions in the interest of the business. Talion continued to monitor throughout the decision-making process and implemented new SIEM content and Orchestration playbooks that were targeted against this threat actor.
Talion enabled its customer to make decisions with a full understanding of the risks, whilst developing further protection against a known threat actor.”
